2 to 4 weeks after square jaw reduction surgery, most of the swelling and bruising will subside. Depending on the clinic, you will most likely remove your stitches 14 days after the surgery. In 3 to 6 months, you can start eating chewy foods such as meat. At this point, most of the swelling will have reduced, and the final results can be seen after 6 months to 1 year.

Pain levels vary based on individual pain tolerances. Most patients experience moderate pain and swelling, which can be managed with prescribed pain medications. Square jaw reduction surgery is generally associated with some discomfort, especially during the initial recovery period. The discomfort usually goes down after the first week.

After angular jaw correction surgery, it is recommended to follow a soft food diet to avoid putting excessive strain on the jaw as it heals. Foods like soups, smoothies, eggs, yogurt, etc., are recommended. You should avoid hard, crunchy, or chewy foods that could irritate the surgical area. You can gradually reintroduce more solid foods into your diet based on your surgeon's advice.

Genioplasty is often performed together with square jaw reduction surgery. This is because when you cut the jawbone, it may not align with the chin. The chin may be enhanced or recessed to help create a more harmonious and balanced facial profile. For an accurate diagnosis, a consultation with a plastic surgeon is needed.

Square jaw reduction only targets the jaw's width and angularity, reducing the prominence of a square or wide jawline. V-line surgery not only reduces the width of the jaw but also reshapes the chin to create a smooth and narrow V-shaped face. V-line surgery is the combination of square jaw reduction and genioplasty.

Angular jaw correction surgery alone will not need screws or pins, but if you get chin adjustment surgery or cheekbone reduction surgery, small metal plates or screws will be used to stabilize the bones.

It is recommended to stay in Korea for 14 days after surgery to ensure all stitches are removed. However, if you need to leave earlier, you can depart after 5 to 7 days. In that case, you will need to have your stitches removed in your home country.
