Hair transplants
This surgery is also commonly known as hair restoration surgery – the surgical process of
harvesting hair follicles from donor part which is rich in hair and grafting them
at the desired areas such as: receding hairline and bald spot. There are many causes of
hair loss, however, the most common issue is genetics and stress. Hair loss may occur
suddenly or in a gradual phase. Non-surgical treatment might be able to slow down
the process, however, it might be hard to restore the hair or obtain desired results.
Our hair specialists can perform hair transplant surgery with improved technology for
painless experience and hidden incision, or even better: no incision at all. Grafted hair will start
to grow about 3 months after surgery. By 6 months around half of the newly grafted hair
starts to grow, by 9 months almost 80% of the grafted hair will be growing, and by
12~18 months the recipient area will be filled with thicker and fuller hair.
The specific number of grafts necessary for each individual case will be depending on
the type of hair, size of the recipient’s head, and quality of hair (including thickness).
Different types and shapes of hair loss
There are two methods of hair transplant
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) method (incision)
Hair harvesting method by surgically removing strips of tissue from the donor area. These strips will be cut into follicular units and grafted to the recipient location.
A thin incision will be made on the donor area. The benefit of this method is more precise surgery, provides the highest yield of hair, the incision will be concealed by the surrounding hair. It is recommended for those who like to keep the hair on the donor area at least around 2~3cm or longer to cover the incision.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method (non-incision)
Hair harvesting method by surgically separating each hair natural grouping (follicular units)
one by one from the donor location. FUE hair transplant with our skilled surgeon will be able to provide a more accurate and highest standard of hair transplant surgery. The benefit of this
method is minimal hair follicle damage / loss, possible to harvest in larger quantities, accurate,
fast, minimal pain, minimal swelling, and minimal recovery time. It is recommended for
all hairstyles and especially for those who like to have very short hair (buzz cut).
Both FUT and FUE are excellent techniques, however, they both have different benefits.
In some cases, FUT would be appropriate or FUE would also be appropriate.
And in some cases, combining both methods can be recommended for excellent results. Docfinderkorea can recommend both FUT method specialists and FUE method specialists.
We put a lot of consideration in order to provide surgery result that looks natural,
optimized grafted hair survival rate, and hair regeneration.

After hair transplants in Korea
FAQ
How much does a hair transplant cost in Korea?
The cost of a hair transplant in Korea typically ranges from
₩4,000,000 to ₩30,000,000, depending on the clinic, the type of
procedure (FUE or FUT), and the number of grafts needed.
Is hair transplant surgery painful?
Hair transplant surgery is typically not painful, although some
individuals may feel slight pain during the injection of the local
anesthesia. Once the anesthesia takes effect, most patients
experience little to no pain during the procedure. After it wears off,
mild soreness may occur, but this can be easily managed with
medications prescribed by your surgeon.
How long does it take to recover from a hair transplant?
The initial recovery period usually takes about 7 to 10 days. During
this time, swelling, redness, and mild discomfort may occur, but
these symptoms typically subside within a few days. Full recovery,
including the final results, can take several months, with the final
hair growth usually visible around 12 to 18 months after the
procedure.
Are the results permanent?
Yes, hair transplant results are generally permanent. The
transplanted hair follicles are resistant to the hormonal factors that
cause hair loss, so once they are integrated into the scalp, they will
continue to grow long-term. However, natural hair loss may still
occur in non-transplanted areas, and over time, the transplanted
area may experience some thinning.
What should I avoid after a hair transplant?
After a hair transplant, avoid direct sun exposure, strenuous
activities, and touching or scratching the transplanted area. You
should not wear tight hats or headwear that may cause friction on
the scalp. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption during the
healing process.
Will I need multiple sessions after a hair transplant?
In some cases, multiple sessions may be recommended to achieve
the desired results or to address additional areas of hair loss.
However, many patients are satisfied with the results from just one
session. Your surgeon will assess your individual needs during an in-
person consultation and determine the best approach.
What is aftercare like for a hair transplant?
Aftercare for a hair transplant involves keeping the scalp clean and
avoiding activities that can stress the healing follicles. The clinic will
provide specific guidelines on how to wash and shampoo your hair.
It is essential to avoid touching or scratching the treated areas.
