What is a Whitening Injection?

When our skin is exposed to direct sunlight, melanin absorbs the light. Skin tone is determined by the release of melanin, and as it increases, it creates darker skin tones. While melanin is determined inherently, it can also be influenced by sunlight. To protect the skin from producing more melanin, taking good care of the skin with sunscreen and receiving whitening treatment is key. Skin whitening makes the skin look fairer and brighter. It restores health, eliminating dark spots, scars, blemishes, pigmentations, and redness. It also reduces wrinkles, giving it an anti-aging effect.

What is Whitening Injection in Korea?

Whitening injections in Korea are a popular cosmetic procedure aimed at lightening skin tone and improving overall skin complexions. These injections typically involve the administration of substances directly into the bloodstream through Intravenous infusion (IV).

The main purpose of whitening injections is to reduce the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for giving skin its color. The more melanin someone produces in their body, the darker their hair, eyes, and skin will be. By inhibiting melanin production, these injections can help dark spots fade, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone, resulting in a brighter and more radiant complexion.

Skin whitening injection is recommended:

- If you have dark or dull skin tone

- If you are worried about blemishes

- If you have chronic fatigue

- If you are worried about your complexion

- If you have frequent illnesses such as the common cold

- If you want to recover your physical condition in a short period

- If you want to prevent various diseases and cancer

Why Are Whitening Injections So Popular in Korea?

The biggest factor of its popularity is the cultural beauty standards. In Korean culture, there is a longstanding tradition of valuing fair and flawless skin. Historically, pale skin was associated with wealth, nobility, and beauty. These cultural norms have persisted over time, contributing to the widespread desire for lighter skin tones.

South Korea is known for its advanced skincare technology and cosmetic procedures. Whitening injections are seen as a modern and effective solution for achieving brighter and more even skin tones. It is readily available in South Korea and offered by numerous dermatology clinics, medical spas, and aesthetic centers. The competitive market makes whitening injections relatively affordable, contributing to its popularity.

“Self-love” and “self-care” are widely emphasized in Korea as the importance of taking care of one’s physical appearance and well-being. Whitening injections are often viewed as a form of self-care, allowing individuals to invest in their skincare and enhance their confidence and self-esteem.

Whitening Treatment in South Korea

In South Korea, the desire to have whiter skin does not come from aspiring to become Western. Instead, it traces back to centuries when lighter skin meant higher social status. People with fair skin were considered rich, powerful, and privileged, while people with darker skin meant working class because they worked outside in the fields. However, this is less the case today. People get whitening treatment to simply remove blemishes and even out the skin tone. A clear skin tone can brighten the face and create a youthful and pretty image. There are two types of whitening injections:

Snow White Whitening Injection

The active ingredient is called glutathione. Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant that eliminates free radicals that promote aging. As we get older, the amount of glutathione drops. Glutathione is responsible for regenerating vitamin C, boosting the immune system, detoxifying the body, and lightening the skin by giving the skin its pigment. It was originally used to improve liver function in patients with alcoholism and chronic liver disease. It was observed that patients administered large doses of glutathione had brighter skin. However, it notes that a person with dark skin will not become white. Glutathione only removes the ‘partially blackened’ particle pigments. It is injected through IV fluids, which have immediate effects.

Cinderella Whitening Injection

The active ingredient of the Cinderella injection is alpha-lipoic acid. It is a type of vitamin with an antioxidant force equal to 400 times vitamin C or E, which inhibits the increase of free radicals. However, unlike C or E, it penetrates lipid tissue. Alpha-lipoic is considered a more powerful antioxidant than vitamin C or E because it is both water-soluble and fat-soluble. This treatment can be used for anti-aging, fatigue recovery, anti-oxidation, improving sexual functions, and supplemental treatment of obesity. While there is an effect in decreasing body fat, it could be due to promoting blood circulation, resulting in temporary weight loss. There needs to be more research on the long-term effects of alpha-lipoic acid.

Glutathione and alpha-lipoic acid are the two active ingredients commonly used in whitening injections. These injections are usually administered in a series of sessions over several weeks or months, depending on the desired results and the individual’s skin condition. It is important to note that one session of these injections will not make much of a difference. Moreover, while whitening injections can be effective for achieving a lighter complexion, potential side effects and risks, such as allergic reactions or uneven skin tone, should be carefully considered and discussed with a healthcare provider before undergoing treatment.

Overall, skin whitening treatment in Korea is an effective method of brightening and whitening results. Not only is it great for aesthetic purposes, but there are medical and health benefits as well. Make a consultation today for better, healthier skin!
