Dental work in Korea

South Korea is known for many things including plastic surgery and dentistry. The dental medical system in Korea is mature. This is mainly because Koreans attach great importance to dental health and often go to the dentist every now and then. Teeth surgery is a very common thing in Korea, and you often encounter young people wearing braces on the streets of Korea. It is precisely because Koreans attach great importance to dental health that everyone can easily see various large and small dental hospitals on the street.

Korean dental procedure technology is also obvious to all. Every year, many foreigners travel thousands of miles to Korea to have dental work. So, is the cost of dental work in Korea high?

The cost of dentistry in Korea

Korean dentistry is famous for its affordable prices and excellent technology compared to its Western counterparts. Even though foreign tourists are not covered by Korea’s national insurance, the price is still much lower than in other developed countries. Therefore, many foreign tourists come to South Korea every year for dental care while traveling.

According to Forbes Health News mentions Dr. Levin estimates the total cost per tooth, start to finish, normally runs between $3,000 and $4,500, and a person who needs a mouthful of implants is looking at a final price of between $60,000 and $90,000.

However single implant costs $1,300 – $1,870 in Korea, while more than $3,000 in other countries. The price of a dental crown averages $1,100 to $1,300 in the US. But in Korea, the average is $600 to $750. The price in Korea is more attractive.

Dental implantation aftercare

Precautions after dental implantation 1: Reduce wound irritation

We all ask patients to rest a lot after surgery. Dental implants are also considered a type of surgery, but many patients often ignore the importance of allowing the wound to rest. In order to allow the wound to recover better, we have compiled the following wound care precautions within 1 to 2 weeks after dental implant surgery for your reference:

Wound hemostasis: After the operation is completed, do not bite food hard, spit, or touch the wound with your tongue, and avoid doing any strenuous exercise, swimming, etc. It is normal to have bleeding the day after surgery. No need to worry. However, if you continue to bleed, please contact us as soon as possible.

Wound recovery: Two weeks after surgery is a critical period for initial tissue healing. Care must be taken to avoid irritating the wound at the implant site. Therefore, please try to eat room temperature/cold, liquid, and soft foods (such as juice, soy milk, milk, cold noodles, etc.) to avoid poor wound healing.

Take medications on time: After dental implant surgery, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics, analgesics, and other medications based on the patient's different conditions. Be sure to take your medicine on time.

Pain Management: Pain may occur after surgery. The doctor will prescribe painkillers. Please follow your doctor's instructions.

Bleeding management: A small amount of bleeding may still occur after surgery. This is normal. Ice can be applied within 48 hours to help stop bleeding. (Note: If the bleeding is excessive or the bleeding cannot be stopped for a long time, please seek medical treatment as soon as possible)

Swelling treatment: Within 48 hours after surgery, it is recommended to apply ice to reduce discomfort and reduce initial swelling. After every 15 to 30 minutes of ice application, rest for 30 minutes; after 48 hours, please switch to a warm compress to help reduce swelling (about 42 hours). temperature, hot towels can be used). There may be local blood bruising (bruising) in some bone repair surgery areas for a few days after surgery, which usually subsides within a few days. This is not related to infection and depends on the patient's constitution.

After Dental Implants: Oral Hygiene

Dental implant wounds need to wait 1 to 2 weeks to heal. During this period, try to avoid irritating the wound. But how do you clean your mouth? Below we have compiled the oral hygiene principles within 1 to 2 weeks after dental implant surgery for your reference:

Do not rinse your mouth vigorously for 48 hours after surgery. If you need to clean, "suck" the mouthwash in and then "gently" spit it out.

From the completion of the surgery to the follow-up visit to remove the sutures, you can use cotton swabs soaked in water to clean the food residue in the mouth, and use mouthwash to keep the mouth clean. (Warm reminder: The principle of using mouthwash is the same, that is, keep it in your mouth, do not rinse your mouth, just spit it out)

Dietary principles after dental implants: Choose warm and cool liquid foods to reduce the burden on the wound

Choosing the right food can help reduce the burden on the wound after dental implant surgery. The following is a list of dietary recommendations for one month after dental implant surgery:

1 to 3 days after surgery, soft/liquid food at room temperature, such as soy milk, steamed eggs, clear soup, pumpkin juice, juice with pulp filtered out, high-concentration chicken soup, pudding, cheese, etc. Do not use a straw or use the surgical area to chew when eating.

4to 7 day after surgery, take the food at room temperature and grind it into puree or easy-to-chew food, such as vegetable puree, fish, fruit puree, potato puree, boiled eggs, etc.

2 to 3 weeks after surgery: soft foods, such as pasta, bread, stewed fruits and vegetables, steamed fish, etc.

4 weeks after surgery, you can start to try a normal diet, but please do not chew hard foods such as nuts.
